The End of Hibernation

Well, would you look at that? It's 10 days into March already!

In case you were wondering, I'm still here.  I've just been avoiding the computer since my online class ended at the beginning of the month.  I worked on that class for half a year and took a much-needed break from word processing.  It still feels a little weird that it's over.

Today marks a turning point for a couple different reasons.  One, it's going to be in the mid-50s today outside!  It'll be the warmest day we've had so far this year.  Right now, the sun is reflecting in our wet driveway, and snow is receding from the lawn like the end of a long ice age.   The cul-de-sac is a dirty little lake that the neighbors' cars keep splashing through.

Could it be?  Is this the slow arrival of Spring we've all been awaiting?
This dish towel brightens up the kitchen and my mood - Spring is almost here!
To go along with the change in weather, I start a new class tonight.  I get to leave the house!  I'm pretty excited about it.  Teaching the online class from home was totally convenient, given the terrible winter we had, but it also had its drawbacks.  For a while now I've been a sloth, creeping through the rooms of the house when I wasn't sleeping.  My hair grew down my back all gnarly.  I wore ragged T-shirts and sweatpants every day.  I conversed in simple sentences, having only a toddler for company most of the time.  If you saw me, you would think I had been rescued from living with wolves.

But no more!  Bruce got a bonus at work, so this weekend, I went to a salon and got an expensive haircut.  It completely boosted my self-esteem.  I prepared my syllabus and lesson plans over the weekend, and the work invigorated me.

No longer will I be a mama bear in a cave.  I am again an intelligent, groomed woman of the world.
